UNIT 1

Informatics

Informatics unit discusses the fundamentals of informatics and covers digital health applications for the enterprises. It includes chapters on health interoperability (data exchange standards (HL7, FHIR), document exchange formats (CDA, CCD), healthcare terminologies (SNOMED, LOINC), health information standards, Health Information Exchange, low-code and no-code development, Virtual-Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), security and privacy, quality improvement activities in United States, Canada, China, United Kingdom, and India.

UNIT 2

Analytics

Analytics unit covers the basics of applied data analytics in healthcare organizations. It also provides multiple ideas for innovators to develop healthcare analytics products and services. The chapters cover health analytics fundamentals, read world evidence, data governance, overview of machine learning and generative AI concepts, medical large language models (LLMs) or generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), applications of machine learning and large language models in healthcare administration and multiple clinical specialties.

UNIT 3

Therapeutics

Digital therapeutics unit discusses the digital therapeutics currently on the market and those that are in clinical trials for over 20 medical conditions. It also provides overview, clinical applications, quality, and regulatory perspectives of mobile health apps, digital diagnostics, and digital biomarkers which are increasingly getting adopted in mainstream clinical medicine.

UNIT 4

Telehealth

Telehealth unit is divided into telemedicine and remote patient monitoring. It includes discussion about telehealth applications in acute care at hospitals, home health, and ambulatory care or office practice setting. It also discusses applications of telehealth in medical specialties, surgical specialties, mental health, rehabilitation, and clinical services.

Unit 5

Regulations

The regulations unit explains, in simplified language, the healthcare regulations relevant to digital health. These includes regulations for clinical decision support, mobile medical apps, healthcare AI. It also provides overview of HITECH Act, CURES Act, MACRA & MIPS, TECFA, and HIPAA.

APPENDIX

Careers

Appendix provides an overview of the career opportunities for engineers, physicians, nurses, business executives, and students at healthcare systems, digital health companies, health insurers, research organizations, consulting firms, telehealth, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies.
